Hello there friend,

Sorry I haven't written anything for a while. But you read the title right- I got the hardcopy now ( I should be doing a happy dance if I know how to dance 😆 )
If you forgot what I'm talking about (check out my first letter blog here) I self-published my Abstract Designs Coloring Book through Amazon KDP and selling them as coloring sheets as well in Gumroad.
Today is the 18th of June and it arrived four days ago, it was earlier than expected. So here's an honest review on my coloring book published from Amazon KDP:
1- The book arrived with a few small dents on the edges of the cover. I don't mind this, considering it traveled a long way.
2- Printed cover is amazing 😍 (I went for a glossy cover) Me & my aunties really love it. It got all the colors the way I designed it even the very light pattern on the blue background showed nicely.
3- I only have 32 sheets but they added 2 more blank sheets at the back so the total number of sheets in this coloring book is 34
4- Coloring Pages (again). So this is where I got a bit disappointed, unfortunately for me, the pages are too thin 😕 if you're going to use markers the ink will surely bleed on the other page. I highly suggest adding another sheet or two behind the page you want to color so you can still use your favorite medium to use for coloring
5- The alignment I'm dreading about did show that it's not centered and there are lines that are not fully connected. Both of these are not printing errors ✌🏻 I adjusted them and uploaded the revised manuscript in Amazon and now it's all good 😁
Overall, I'm happy with it. One advice I got was that for starters like me, Amazon KDP is a good start to self publish your books, you really just have to work on promoting your book. I love seeing the barcode/ISBN number at the back, it makes me feel like a real authentic author selling a book in an actual bookstore- you get what I mean? Hopefully one day, a real publisher will publish my coloring books but for now, I'm an indie author selling a coloring book in an online store- Amazon and Gumroad 😊
Later. Keep safe, XO
Kath
P.S
I'm working on another coloring book so watch out for it 🖍
